Americas GP -Cota – First Top Ten Finish For Buchanan

The third round at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas was a landmark event for the Denssi BOÉ squad. The weekend began with unpredictable weather – a wet Friday practice saw Cormac Buchanan excel, posting 11th fastest time which earned him direct passage to Qualifying 2. Riding the momentum, Buchanan qualified 15th on the grid despite limited dry track time. Teammate Ruché Moodley, learning yet another new circuit, showed steady improvement and qualified 22nd. Both knew Sunday’s race would be long and demanding on COTA’s 20-turn layout, but were eager to capitalize on their race pace.

On race day, Buchanan delivered a breakthrough performance. He made a lightning start and methodically picked off riders, cracking into the top ten by mid-race. Exhibiting race craft beyond his years, Cormac fought in the lead pack and ultimately finished 10th – his first top-ten in the World Championship. “Super happy with the race and how I rode,” Buchanan said afterward. He described staying calm in the opening laps and then managing tire wear wisely. “The tyre started to drop off really fast but this is where I feel strong… I managed to get faster… and pounce,” he explained, highlighting how he overtook several rivals late by better preserving his tires.

By the final laps, he was battling for seventh place, and he remarked he “probably just needed another couple of laps to progress further up”. Nevertheless, 10th was an outstanding result – it made Buchanan the first New Zealander in a Grand Prix top ten since 1998, a fact not lost on him as he proudly noted representing his country and team in the history books.

Moodley also had an encouraging race, gaining several positions. From P22 on the grid he climbed to 16th at the finish. While just outside the points, Ruché showed consistent pace and gained valuable data on tire management from the challenging COTA asphalt. He stayed with a competitive group and nearly cracked the top-15, only fading slightly by the checkered flag. Moodley’s effort ensured another double-finish for Denssi BOÉ and continued his development curve. Notably, after three rounds, Buchanan sat 14th in the championship and was the only rookie to have scored points in every race so far – a testament to the team’s preparation and his talent.

The shining moment was Buchanan’s top-ten finish, which grabbed headlines and showed the paddock what the Denssi BOÉ team is capable of. His composed ride – staying patient early, then attacking late – was a perfect execution of race strategy. The race also featured Buchanan pulling a last-lap pass for 10th, clinching that milestone result. Moodley’s gain of six positions in the race highlighted the team’s overall race pace and never-say-die attitude. The entire weekend’s upward trajectory (strong practice, solid qualifying, great race) was a huge morale boost.

The COTA round was a marquee showcase for Denssi’s partnership. With Buchanan dicing in the lead pack on worldwide broadcast, the Denssi logo on his KTM was front and center for fans. His post-race remarks thanked the BOÉ team and sponsors for giving him a competitive package, implicitly shining a light on Denssi’s support. The top-ten finish also reinforces Denssi’s image as a champion of rising talent and performance. Social media buzzed about the result, and Denssi’s branding rode that wave – appearing in highlight clips and celebratory posts. It was an upbeat, proud weekend for the sponsor, who could rightfully claim their partnership helped enable this early-season success.
